Classic Southern Wedding with a Grazing Reception in Historic Florida Hotel
It was such an honor to plan Rachel and Thomas’ classic and sweet afternoon wedding in my hometown and to work in spaces that wouldn't have been a possibility five years ago. The revitalization of the historic district in Downtown Lake City, Florida has been fun to watch, and I'm excited that Rachel and Thomas were able to show it off to their wedding guests!
The Blanche Hotel, Lake City, FL
They recited their vows in front of friends and family in Rachel’s childhood church before everyone enjoyed a traditional Southern grazing reception at the recently renovated Blanche Hotel in Downtown Lake City, Florida. Built in 1902 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1990, The Blanche has been the talk of the town since conversations about the $18 million renovation began.
Visited by Johnny Cash and frequented by Al Capone, it was the epitome of Southern luxury. The first building in the state with an elevator, it was originally designed by architect Frank Pierce Milburn, who did significant work on the Florida State Capitol!
